Writer: Sydney DeniseSydney Denise

Shameik Moore, the lead voice actor for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," expressed his disappointment over the film not winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar, suggesting it was "robbed" following its loss to Hayao Miyazaki's "The Boy and the Heron."

Moore, the voice behind Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse series, conveyed his sentiments on X/Twitter after "The Boy and the Heron" from Studio Ghibli secured the Oscar, leaving Sony's "Across the Spider-Verse" behind. Despite his initial reaction, Moore acknowledged feeling like a "sore loser" and expressed respect for all the night's winners. He also used the opportunity to hype up "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse," the franchise's forthcoming third installment.

The 2023 nomination list for Animated Feature Film at the Oscars included "Across the Spider-Verse," alongside "Elemental," "Nimona," "Robot Dreams," and the winning "The Boy and the Heron." Despite not clinching the award, the sequel to the Oscar-winning "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" was hailed as a critical and commercial blockbuster, amassing $690 million globally and earning accolades for its visual and storytelling prowess, with a 94% Audience Score - because you know audience score is better than critics' score -rating on Rotten Tomatoes and positive reviews praising its innovation and dynamic action. For those interested, the full movie accessible for streaming on Netflix.
